AFCON 2026 Shock: Senegal Stripped of Africa Cup of Nations Title, Morocco Declared Champions

In an unprecedented ruling, Senegal has been stripped of the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations title 58 days after winning it. The Confederation of African Football Appeal Board declared the final result overturned after Senegal’s players walked off the pitch for over 10 minutes following a controversial penalty awarded to Morocco in the 24th minute of injury time. Morocco, which lost the original final 1-0, has now been declared the winner with a 3-0 scoreline. It is the first time in AFCON history that a champion has been stripped of the title after the tournament. African football will never be the same.
