In a daring daylight raid on October 19 2025, masked thieves disguised as construction workers broke into the Louvre’s famed Apollon Gallery and made off with eight historic jewels items once worn by Empress Eugénie, Wife to Napoleon III and Queen Marie-Amélie described by French officials as having “incalculable” heritage value.
The entire operation lasted only seven minutes, the thieves are said to have broken windows to gain entry before escaping on motor scooters.
