Upcycle Africa, in partnership with Engineers for Sustainable Energy Solutions, is transforming Uganda’s plastic waste crisis into an opportunity for clean energy and economic empowerment. Through the “Trash to Tank” initiative, non-recyclable plastic waste is converted into fuel alternatives for cooking, heating, and lighting. The project also trains local communities, especially women and youth, in waste collection, recycling, and fuel production. By turning waste into valuable resources, the initiative promotes environmental protection, sustainable energy access, and community-driven innovation across Uganda.
