How Poultry Farmers in Uganda Can Increase Profits Through Better Nutrition and Farm Management

Poultry farming remains one of Uganda’s most profitable agricultural ventures, but success depends heavily on proper nutrition and effective farm management. In this episode of Seeds of Gold by NTV Uganda, veterinary expert Dr. John Michael Machi from Bola Chemical Industries explains how feed quality, biosecurity, record keeping, and efficient feeding practices directly influence profitability. Since feed accounts for over 70% of poultry production costs, farmers are encouraged to prioritize quality feed, proper storage, and feeding schedules to minimize losses. The discussion also highlights disease prevention, ventilation, vaccination, and gradual farm expansion as critical pillars for building a sustainable and profitable poultry business in Uganda.
