Two powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela near the capital, Caracas, causing widespread panic, structural damage, and fears of mass casualties. The first earthquake measured 7.1 magnitude, followed shortly by a stronger 7.5 magnitude tremor, according to the United States Geological Survey. Buildings collapsed in several affected areas, while emergency teams rushed to respond. Tremors were also felt in neighboring Colombia. Although tsunami warnings for the Caribbean, including Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, were later lifted, concerns remain high over aftershocks, infrastructure damage, and possible casualties. Authorities continue assessing the full scale of destruction.
