Small retail shops in Uganda are adopting smartphone tools to replace notebooks and manual stock records. NTV Uganda’s Innovation Nation features Duqact, a mobile point-of-sale platform that records purchases, sales, expenses and customer debts. Daily reports help owners see how their businesses are performing and identify products that need replenishing. The team says 79 shops have been onboarded or supported, although building trust in the informal sector and meeting infrastructure costs remain challenges. Developers are exploring closer links between retailers and suppliers, with the goal of making accurate records and practical business management accessible to more small shops.
