Uganda’s innovation scene is rising fast, and Makerere University is right at the center of it. Students and researchers are turning science into real-world solutions from cancer-fighting sweet potatoes rich in anthocyanins to plant tissue culture that boosts disease-resistant crops. Food waste is also being transformed into biogas and enhanced biofertilizers that double as pesticides.
With young innovators leading the charge, Uganda’s future looks smarter, greener, and driven by homegrown solutions that directly improve everyday life.
